A Connecticut man took the concept of 'cold feet' to the extreme after he faked his own death in an attempt to avoid getting married, reports stated Tuesday.
British bride-to-be Alex Lanchester received a phone call from an unknown number before their wedding on August 15 claiming that her American fiancé, Tucker Blandford had passed away after "throwing himself in front of a car."

However, it was proven false on Tuesday after the bereaved bride called Blandford's parents to share her grief with them.
To her surprise, they told her that the man she loved was alive and well, and had even made them believe the relationship with the British woman ended when she returned to the U.K.
Quickly piecing information together, she then realized that the 23-year-old American man had pretended to die just to avoid marrying her.
Lanchester was crushed by what she found out, declaring that she may not be able to fall in love again after what happened.
"All I ever did was love him," the heartbroken British woman stated, stressing her incredulity that he would go to such extremes just to get out of their relationship.
She expressed her fury to her ex-fiancé, calling him "a liar and a coward," citing that she even spent money she barely had to prepare for their wedding day.
Later, Blandford told The Daily Mail during a phone interview that he 'got scared' and even admitted to faking his death to end the relationship.
"I'm a terrible, awful person. I know I shouldn't have told her I was dead, but I didn't know what else to do," he added.
Meanwhile, Lanchester has already moved on, telling reporters that she's "making new memories" on her own and is happy to be rid of him.
The two met at a Connecticut college in August 2012 and immediately fell in love. Lanchester, a British woman from Sutton Coldfield in West Midlands, studied in America for a year.
Before the end of her year abroad, Blandford allegedly asked for her hand in marriage, but apparently changed his mind later on once the young woman returned to the U.K.
