Xiaomi Rolls out MIUI 7.1 Global Stable Build on Jan. 5

Dubbed the MIUI 7.1, the new interface is the successor to the MIUI 7.0 and will hit a handful of Xiaomi devices sometime in the morning of Jan. 5.

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is planning to release an over-the-air update for its flagship user interface. Dubbed the MIUI 7.1, the new interface is the successor to the MIUI 7.0 and will hit a handful of Xiaomi devices sometime on Tuesday, Jan. 5.

The MIUI 7.1 update comes five months after its predecessor, the MIUI 7.0, was released. As of this writing, it is not certain which Android version the MIUI 7.1 user interface is built on.

The following devices will receive the update:

  • Xiaomi Mi 3
  • Xiaomi Mi 4
  • Xiaomi Mi Note
  • Xiaomi Mi 4i
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G
  • Xiaomi Redmi 2
  • Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime
  • Xiaomi Redmi 1S
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 2
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 3G
  • Xiaomi Mi Pad

Owners of the above mentioned devices will receive the OTA update which will come in waves depending on your device model. Users are advised to download the update through a Wi-Fi network in order to avoid overage charges when downloaded via mobile networks. Users are also advised to make sure that their device has at least 50 percent battery life prior to downloading the update.

As mentioned, the MIUI 7.1 user interface update will come in waves. This means that it will take some time for the update to hit certain models or areas of the country.

For Xiaomi Mi 2 and Xiaomi Mi 2S owners, the MIUI Global Stable ROM version 7.1.2.0 is already available and can be downloaded on its official website.

Xiaomi said that the next update will come on Jan. 11. The tech company did not confirm what will be the coverage of the next update. The next update will probably cover the Xiaomi Mi 2 and Mi 2S, Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 3.

Xiaomi is yet to release the official changelog of the MIUI 7.1 update.
