If you've gotten infected by "The Strain" bandwagon, FX has just given you a reason to rejoice - actually 13 reasons.

Director Guillermo del Toro and Executive Producer Carlton Cuse are the creators of the said series.

Del Toro is known for his skilled directorship of movies such as "Pan's Labyrinth," "Pacific Rim" and "Hell Boy"; while Cuse produced the cult TV series, "Lost".

The first season of "The Strain" garnered an average of 4.5 million viewers per episode, excluding those who watched the series online. If online viewers were added to the number of viewers, the average total viewership would be 11 million.

Based on a novel collaborated on by del Toro and Chuck Hogan, the television revolves around Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, played by actor Corey Stoll.

Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the main character of the series, is the head of the Centers for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City who, along with his team, battles a virus which resembles an ancient and deadly strain of vampirism.

The pilot episode saw Goodweather and his team being sent to the John F. Kennedy International Airport to investigate a plane with 206 corpses and four survivors.

Soon enough, bodies they have brought to the morgue disappear and Goodweather and his team find themselves in a battle with forces they haven't encountered before.

The first season, which debuted last July 13, has seven episodes left for airing, but its successful run has prompted FX to immediately renew it for a second season.

In a review printed on USA Today about the show, it read, "the best-executed, most cleverly constructed and most universally enjoyable fright-monger of them all".
