Anna Nicole Smith's estate failed in its final bid to obtain US$44 million from the Playboy model's late billionaire-husband's estate. The failure comes seven years after Smith's death.
Smith was married to Texan Billionaire J. Howard Marshall when she was 26 and he was 89. He died 14 months into the marriage.

The model met Marshall while she was performing at a Houston strip club in 1991. Shortly after meeting, the two entered into a romantic relationship, despite Smith already being married to someone else.
Smith continued on with her affair with Marshall for two years, and in 1993, she decided to divorce her then husband, Billy.
After the divorce, Smith married Marshall in 1994. Many believed that the starlet only married the elderly tycoon for his money.
Marshall, who made his wealth through oil, left his US$1.6 billion estate to his son, while leaving nothing to Smith.
Smith, who used her real name "Vickie Lynn Marshall" in court, challenged the will. The controversial starlet stated that her deceased husband had promised that he would leave her over US$300 million, aside from those that he gave her during their short-lived union.
The court's rejection of the bid means that Smith's daughter, Dannielyn Birkhead, will never be able to collect the millions of dollars her mother hoped for. Dannielyn is Smith's daughter by former boyfriend, Larry Birkhead.
The much-battled-over money will remain in the estate of E. Pierce Marshall, the son of Smith's elderly husband.
U.S. District Judge David O. Carter dismissed the bid, stating in court, "Time spent litigating the relationship between Vickie Lynn and J. Howard has extended for nearly five times the length of their relationship and nearly twenty times the length of their marriage. It is neither reasonable nor practical to go forward."
Smith died at a Florida hotel in 2007 from an overdose of precription drugs. Her son Daniel had died a few months before.
