Anthony Johnson won’t Face Rashad Evans; Lines up List of Possible Opponents

Anthony Johnson

Anthony Johnson, current Rashad Evans teammate has stated that a fight between him and Evans will not happen.

"That's just how it's going to be with me. I'll tell them I'll go up to heavyweight and fight. By that time Rashad should have a fight, and whatever the outcome is going to be, is going to be. Then I can have my fights at heavyweight or light heavyweight." Johnson said in an interview with UFC.com.

"But I won't fight him, ever. We fight each other every day in the gym, so I think it's just pointless to go down that road and fight a brother," Johnson adds.

The UFC star's hit-list includes a lot of fighters but Ryan Bader is on top of it. He want to make the fight happen in late October.

Bader is coming off a unanimous decision win against Ovince St. Preux last week. Johnson admired Bader's abilities. However, the man took the opportunity to take some shots on his future opponent saying that it was a boring fight.

Johnson is now open to call out opponents. He sees the Bader fight a chance to showcase his wrestling skills. After he's done with Bader, Johnson aims to be in the Octagon with Alexander Gustafsson, the number one contender for the UFC light heavyweight title.

Gustafsson continued training on Monday after his operation for the repair of his torn meniscus on the right knee last August 5. With Gustafsson saying that he is ready to fight Jones on January 3, Johnson says that it is a perfect timing for them to have a match.

Johnson wants to be a part of the Jones-Cormier card seeing it as a showcase of light heavyweight greats.

The currently fifth ranked light heavyweight contender also went on to call out Alistair Overeem stating that the man is a bully. In order to have a match with Overeem, Johnson is willing to move up in the heavyweight division temporarily.
