10,000 Toilets to be Built for Schoolgirls in India; Authorized by Prime Minister

In a society who typically approves spending money on educating their male population more than female, India will set forth measures that would spend 2 billion rupees ($32 million) to build toilets for girls in school as well as people in agricultural areas.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who recently won India's general election earlier this year, plans to make many changes benefiting Indian society and businesses while growing the economy. He mentioned building the toilets in his Independence Day speech in New Delhi on Friday in which he describes a new "Clean India Initiative."

"All schools in the country should have toilets with separate toilets for girls," Modi said. "Only then will our daughters not be compelled to leave schools midway."
India's technology company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) - and parent firm of Bharti Airtel, called Bharti Enterprises - will be in collaboration to fund the project; reportedly each spending an even $16.5 million. TCS said they would build as many as 10,000 toilets in schools all across the country.
TCS believes it's crucial to allow girls to have proper sanitation facilities, as it'll benefit the impact of education and development achievements shaping a new generation in India.
It's really unfortunate what women and young girls have to go through being forced to defecate out in the open; most holding it in entirely waiting until it's night time. They're more prone to disease as they're forced to defecate in unsanitary places.
There are also numerous reports of girls being raped or murdered - something that likely wouldn't happen if they had their own sanitary facilities to go to.
Thankfully with the help of India's Prime Minister and the collaboration of businesses, schoolgirls will have their own toilets, which have a deadline to be implemented and built before next year.
