Uber is seeking to further their scope by hiring former White House advisor David Plouffe to get into markets blocked by legislation and disgruntled taxi companies.
Uber, the upscale car sharing service, decided to hire the former advisor to President Barack Obama as their senior vice president of policy and strategy to win over markets that have been blocked out of the car sharing company, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick said in an announcement on Tuesday.

"We have tens of thousands of consumers and sometimes hundreds of thousands of consumers who are clamoring for the way to get around [a] city," he said.
San Francisco has an abundance of Uber cars, but certain cities, such as Las Vegas, have banned Uber through regulation. Nevada Administrative Code requires charter services to charge by the hour for at least one hour and defines Uber as a charter service, Las Vegas Review Journal reports.
Though Uber operates in 43 countries, cities around the world such as Munich and Hamburg have tried to block the car sharing company, and taxi drivers in London, Paris, and Madrid have staged protests against ride sharing.
Plouffe believes the company is doing moral good, saying that Uber provides jobs and cuts down on drunk and distracted driving.
"It's hard to deny progress. It's hard to stand in the way of change," he said.
Undismayed by protests, Plouffe said in a statement that he will approach marketing and strategizing as if it were a political race.
Plouffe ran Obama's 2008 presidential campaign and compared his position at Uber to a new political hopeful taking on a powerful opponent, the taxi industry.
Uber CEO Kalanick said the difficulties are so political that they needed someone with that experience.
"Uber has been in a political campaign but hasn't been running one," he said. "That is changing now."
Uber recently premiered its service in Beijing and Shanghai.
