During the show Lai created a sand painting together with a show member, a skill he learnt in his free time.

"It's just the simple skills, he also said I have the talent. Where will I find the time! This is easy to learn but difficult to master. One has to have a solid artistic background, so wait until I retire first! You want me to labor for that long! I've been thinking about retiring in two years!" he quipped.

He also discussed the plan of producer Lee Tim Sing to retire this March. "He is already 67 years old, I don't want him to work too hard," he said after which he spoke of his plan to stage a huge farewell celebration for Sing.

Wayne's latest project, Lee Tim Sing's Rosy Business 3,  has been put on hold. "We, actors, don't really mind, we've done our best and that's what matters," he said, saying management decision is beyond his control.

Lai also said that period dramas are quite flexible and they could be aired later, whenever airtime is available. He said that the company will air Short End of The Stick before he and Teresa Mo start filming their new sitcom slated to run for 120 episodes.

Lai started out as a TVB clerk in 1983 until he trained in the TVB Acting School before he pursued a career in movies. His most defining role was in Rosy Business in 2009, which achieved enormous success, earning him Best Supporting Actor and Best Actor in 2008 and 2009 TVB Anniversary Awards. He once again scooped the Best Actor trophy in 2010 for his role in No Regrets.
