Online Chinese bookstores, Amazon, Dangdang and Jingdong have released their bestseller list for 2015 and the number one bestselling book from all three stores is a coloring book entitled The Secret Garden.

"Sales of The Secret Garden reached a million copies in just three months after hitting the shelves and the total sales for 2015 is an estimated 1.5million copies," Chen Lijun, the manager of Dangdang's publication division, told Huaxi Metropolis daily.

27-year-old Xiong Xin is just one of the many people who purchased the book. "I think coloring is a good way to relax after a long day at work." he said.

The book is currently sold out, which is not that surprising since it is the by-product of the growing young, middle class's endeavor to escape from work and life's pressures.

"The book is more about participation as well as recreation, its popularity suggests that the book is becoming an alternative to the young Chinese to let out pressure from their everyday lives." Peking University professor and cultural critic Zhang Yiwu told China daily.

Aside from The Secret Garden, other top selling books include Jian Rong's Wolf Totem, Antoine deSaint-Exupéry's The Little Prince and Ordinary World by Chinese writer Yu Lao.

Fictional ebooks also made quite an impact last year, but not as much seeing as no ebook made it to the Top 10 list.

The only economics and management book on the list is Zero to none: Notes on startups, or How to Build the Future, the book was recommended to the public by Facebook CEO and Founder, Mark Zuckerberg.
