A man donning a wig and a dress in an underground passage in Beijing has caught the attention of the public. He sells flowers there every night, but for a very noble cause.
Dong Dajun, a native of Linyi in Shandong province, is selling flowers in drag every night to earn more money for the treatment of his cancer-stricken son. His 5-year-old boy Hui Hui was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a cancer in the lymphatic system, last October.

"No one noticed me and bought flowers in the beginning when I dressed normally. Then I was reminded that whenever I wear my wife's clothes, my son would laugh happily. Besides, more people may notice me when I dress in women's clothes," Dajun explained.
When the growth the size of a quail egg on young Hui Hui's neck started to cause difficulty in breathing and walking properly in September, Dajun and his wife decided to take him to a local hospital where the child was diagnosed with cancer.
After the doctors' suggestions to take him to the Chinese capital, Dajun and his wife, Zhao Xiaoxue, quit their jobs as a factory worker and a farmer, respectively. They relocated to a small two-bedroom apartment near Beijing Children's Hospital where the child undergoes treatments.
According to Dajun, his son doesn't know that he has cancer. They told him that he only has severe flu.
"The cancer is found in many parts of his body like his chest and kidneys. The doctor said it's impossible to remove all the tumors in his body, and chemotherapy is the better solution," Dajun said.
The family has already spent ¥210,000 ($32,000) for only three sessions of chemotherapy out of eleven. About ¥140,000 ($21,000) was borrowed from their family and friends, with the local government chipping in ¥1,000 ($150).
During his first week of selling flowers in drag, he earned ¥200 ($30).
"I'm not embarrassed. Some friends even told me that I'm pretty. I'm very proud to do this for my son," he said.
Dajun hopes that he can find a part-time job in the evening and look after his son during the day.
