People rushed to the streets to enjoy the snow. Others simply stood on their balcony to take a picture of this delightful event.

According to the bureau, most districts of the city recorded light snowfall for about an hour at noon time. People gathered excitedly to take photographs of the wintry scene on the city's Baiyunshan Mountain and Canton Tower.

Many resident of Guangzhou apparently did not take last's weeks report of potential snowfall seriously, but as it happened, they were pleasantly surprised and excited to be able to touch the snow for the first time. The cold weather did not stop fun-seekers from going out of their houses to admire the beautiful winter ambiance brought by the snow.

While the cold white ice did not take long to disappear, pictures and video recordings of this rare snowfall have been posted on social media.

Although some contend that it was just a sleet, and that other districts are unlikely to experience the snow, this day will definitely be remembered.

Guangzhou, known as Canton, is the third largest city in China. It is located in south-central Guangdong Province, north of the Pearl River Delta, close to the South China Sea, Hong Kong and Macau.

Many residents of Guangzhou are very excited at the thought that the province could see more snowfall in the coming days.
