Disneyland, the most visited theme park in the world, is not only known for its extreme rides, costumed characters, festive parades and stage shows - but also for its magical fireworks. However, a new Disneyland park set to open in Shanghai will have to observe a ban on fireworks during polluted days.

All firework shows in the city are to be prohibited without exception when the air quality index is above 201, according to the city's fire department. Shanghai also has a licensing system that prohibits large-scale firework shows without approval.

Shanghai's air quality was worse last year than it was in 2014, according to the city's environmental authority on Jan 21. The Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau issued a yellow air pollution alert on Jan 14 as the Air Quality Index was forecast to be between 201 and 300, or heavily polluted.

"The theme park is located outside the Shanghai outer ring," said Fan Xiping, the chairman of Shanghai Group, the Chinese partner of Walt Disney Corporation. Therefore, it may not be normally restricted by the firework ban.

Nonetheless, the park will seek to minimize the effects of breathtaking pyrotechnics on the environment by using fireworks that are environment friendly and advanced.

Disney's first theme park on the Chinese mainland will officially open to visitors on June 16 in Shanghai. The theme park has announced entertainment programs, which includes Snow White, Luke Skywalker and many more.

The air pollution is getting worse and the Theme park is apparently willing to cooperate and maximize resources to also help protect the environment.
