Obama had called Foley's murder as an "act of violence that shocks the conscience of the entire world."

The areas targetted in Thursday's bombing runs were near the strategic Mosul Dam that was overtaken earlier by IS militants, but recovered days later by Iraqi and Kurdish Peshmerga forces, with U.S. Aircraft providing air support.

Defense department officials say U.S. Support will continue as Iraqi forces attempt to expand their areas of control in the north.

U.S. Central Command reported Thursday that since August 8, their aircraft have conducted 90 airstrikes, with 57 of them in support of government forces near Mosul Dam.

Since the video about Foley's murder was released, 14 U.S. airstrikes have been launched against the IS near Mosul.

Aside from the U.S., British and French forces also continued to deliver aid to areas near Erbil in northern Iraq.

The French foreign ministry reported Thursday that another air flight was dispatched carrying 21 tons of food, tents, medical supplies and other basic necessities intended for minority tribes who have taken refuge in Erbil and surrounding areas.

TheBritish have conducted aid drops and surveillance flights over Iraq last week, and have committed to providing arms to Kurdish forces battling the IS if necessary.

On Thursday, Kurdistan's regional government extended its gratitude to the U.S. and the international community providing military and humanitarian assistance, especially the attacks launched against "the terrorist forces of the ISIS."
