Four gang members were arrested on Friday for their alleged involvement in the death of two of their teenage members, Taichung police said

Police detained the gang's ringleader, a woman surnamed Hsu, 24, her 21-year-old brother, a man named Lin, 25, and Chen, the youngest, aged 19. Chen was later transferred to a juvenile court.  The gang allegedly tortured two of their members, causing one to die.

The victim was 19-year-old Lin Hung-yu.

Lin and his friend, 17-year-old Liao, joined the gang, which is composed of dropouts in their late teens to mid-twenties.

According to Liao, he and Lin were tortured by the gang members for more than 10 days before he got out and told the police. They were burned with cigarettes, blow torch, beaten by a baseball bat, and shot with BB guns.

When police obtained a search warrant on Thursday, they found a young man lying naked in the storage room of a house. His body was full of bruises and other evidence of torture.

Preliminary examinations show that Lin's body had more than 100 cuts, burn marks, and bruises from BB guns. His mouth was covered and nose plugs were also used to suffocate him. It was learned that he was tortured for around 15 days.

Police said that asphyxiation was the cause of death.

Lin was reportedly killed because he did not give all the money he collected to the gang and kept NT$550,000 ($16,400) for himself. The gang is involved in ATM and telephone scams.

Police are still looking for 10 other accomplices. The four suspects will be charged with murder.
