Defending champion Brazil shut out China, Japan stunned Turkey and Russia clobbered Belgium in a one-sided day at the finals of the World Volleyball Grand Prix on Thursday.
After losing their first match of the tournament against Turkey, Brazil bounced back against last year's silver medalists China with a shutout victory 25-23, 25-20, 25-21.

Coach Jenny Lang Ping introduced a couple of young players in the match so that they can get "experience in playing against a strong team like Brazil," but unfortunately, the result was not in their favor.
The team started off with an inexperienced setter Jingsi Shen calling the shots who was more than excited to show off what she can do. She was able to set balls accurately to another up and coming attacker in Xiaotong Liu who top scored the team with 13 points.
China was able to keep up with Brazil but experience was a major factor as veterans Fernanda Rodrigues, Carvalho Jacqueline and Fabiana Claudino combined for 41 points to topple the Chinese nationals.
Russia redeemed themselves after a loss against Japan in the opening day of the finals as they clobbered Belgium in just three sets 25-23, 25-16, 25-19.
The Russians used their height to their advantage, scoring 15 block points while Natalia Malykh top scored with 18 points. Heck Lise Van was the top scorer for Belgium with 15 points.
Host nation Japan was unstoppable against Turkey in the main event as team captain Saori Kimura and Yuki Ishii led their squad with 14 points apiece to stun the Turkish nationals 25-13, 25-17, 25-17.
The tandem of Gozde Sonsirma and Neriman Ozsoy was clearly not much of a factor against Japan scoring only 21 points combined, unlike their outstanding performance against Brazil where they combined for an amazing 44 points.
Japan now leads the overall standings with six points followed by Brazil with four points while Russia and China are tied in third place with three points.
China plays Japan, Brazil goes up against Belgium and Turkey clashes with Russia Friday in the third day of the finals.
