Colombia national team captain Radamel Falcao reportedly wants to move to China after his attempted transfer to La Liga giants Atletico Madrid has failed on winter transfer window deadline day.

The 29-year-old Falcao was a former standout of Los Colchoneros for two seasons, from 2011 to 2013, and had been one of the team's best goal scorers during that time. He played 91 games for Atletico and have scored a remarkable 70 times, which made him a target of many world-class football clubs.

In May 2013, he was bought by Ligue 1 club AS Monaco for a transfer fee of €60 million while the amount of his five-year contract was undisclosed.

After he failed to live up to expectations with the French side in his two seasons there, he was sent on loan to Manchester United in 2014-2015 and then this season to reigning English Premier League champions Chelsea, but still he is not what he used to be particularly in scoring.

He has appeared only nine times for the Blues this season, and have scored only once, as his season is marred by a recurring thigh injury.

Chelsea had already advised Monaco of their plan to "cancel the loan arrangement" for Falcao, especially now that the team has added Brazilian Alexander Pato from Corinthians and Frenchman Loïc Rémy has been reactivated "as back-ups to the first-choice striker, Diego Costa", as per The Guardian.

Monaco is also reportedly not keen on keeping Falcao, which means that the Colombian striker may find himself without a club to play with after this summer if his agent, Jorge Mendes, will not be able to link him with one soonest.

Falcao and Mendes have travelled to Spain in hopes of returning to Atleti, but discussions have fallen through. They also tried to negotiate with Valencia for a possible six-month contract, but it also failed.

With that, the Telegraph indicated that Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning is interested in acquiring Falcao, and could do so until Feb. 26 when the Chinese winter window closes.

Jiangsu has recently signed Falcao's Blues teammate, Ramires, to a £20 million deal and the Colombian could soon follow him in Nanjing. The team is currently coached by Dan Petrescu, a former Chelsea player who had been a teammate of team captain John Terry.
