Zootopia is an animated film that follows the story of a group of anthropomorphic animals living in a big city that is similar to New York. Its main characters include a fugitive con artist fox and a rookie female bunny cop, who are forced to work together in order to unveil a conspiracy.
The animated film was directed by Byron Howard, Rich Moore (Wreck it Ralph) and co-director Jared Bush (Penn Zero: Part-Time hero) and stars Idris Elba as the voice of Chief Bogo, Ginnifer Godwin as Judy Hopps, Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde, Octavia Spencer as Mrs. Otterton and singer Shakira as Gazelle.
Zootopia was first announced during the 2013 D23 Expo after Jason Bateman's casting was leaked to the press. At the time Director Byron Howard did not discuss the film's main plot, however, he told the press that Zootopia was inspired by Disney's 1970's adaptation of Robin Hood and that the city that the characters will be living in has been designed as if animals had created it other than humans.
Zootopia will be released worldwide and will be entitled Zootropolis for its European release and will be available in 3D, IMAX and 2D screenings.
