China Telecom said all iPhone 6 units the company will sell will be unlocked and may be used on all wireless networks in China.

China Telecom is the third largest telecommunications company in China, following China Mobile and China Unicom.

At the moment, iPhone units being sold by China Telecom only accept SIM cards issued by the company. China Telecom's early 4S to most recent 5S models only run under their 3G CDMA2000 network and 2G CDMA network.

China Telecom's Shanghai branch said the iPhone 6 units to be sold have the capability to support a dual 4G network, both TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE, and a number of networks, including  GSM, WCDMA, CDMA2000 and CDMA1X.

The announcement follows the revelation last Tuesday the new version of the iPhone has the capacity to support faster LTE connectivity since the new mobile device will feature Qualcomm's MDM9625 LTE modem.

The post uploaded on Weibo detailing the next-generation mobile phone is attached to a photo of the model which comes in three colors: silver, gold and black.

After the post was forwarded over 300 times, however, China Telecom deleted the photo and text.

Despite China Telecom's move to "save market confidence" by selling unlocked units of the iPhone 6, the unwillingness of other telecom companies to do the same might prove to be China Telecom's downfall.

According to China Telecom, the company's mobile subscribers in July totaled at 180 million, a 200,000 decrease from June.

Yicai.com also reported the company lost 5.54 million users in the first seven months of 2014.

The iPhone 6, which is scheduled for release this September, has a sapphire glass display and will be available in 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch versions.
