Incoming Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly eyeing Sergio Busquets as one of his first signings this summer and French club Paris Saint-Germain could be one of the English club's main rivals for the services of the FC Barcelona midfielder.

Daily Mail Online reported that aside from Brazil national team captain Neymar, the 45-year-old current Bayern Munich head coach also wants his Barça teammate Busquets, who has been called Guardiola's "footballing son" since their days in Camp Nou from 2007 to 2012.

Guardiola coached Busquets from his time with the Barcelona B team during the 2007-2008 season and the La Liga giant's first team from 2008 up until he resigned as coach of the club at the end of the 2011-2012 season.

It was also reported that the Citizens are dedicated to providing Guardiola the resources that he needs to pull off the signings that he wanted this summer and Barça is said to be in trouble of a possible double swoop for Busquets and Neymar that could amount to a staggering £150 million.

While Lionel Messi out of the question because of his strained relationship with the coach during his final years in Barcelona, Busquets had always been the Spaniard's favorite player.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder is equally respectful as well, reportedly regarding Guardiola as his "footballing father after being plucked by him from the Barcelona reserves into the world's best team alongside Xavi, Andres Iniesta, and Messi".

The 6-foot-2 Busquets, who has the height and stature to compete in the English Premier League, is under contract with Barça until the end of the 2017-2018 season while his release clause is said to be around £35 million.

However, it is well-known that the Blaugrana had never been known to forcibly keep players who wanted to move away from the club and so a Busquets to City deal is highly probable.

Meanwhile, Caught Offside indicated that "City may face competition from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain" for the signature of the Sabadell, Spain native as the Parisians are "seriously interested in the midfield anchor man".

PSG is said to be targeting Busquets to replace an aging Thiago Motta in their defensive midfield and a possible complement to Marco Verratti.
