"MythBusters" Discovery Channel TV science entertainment show went back to its roots ditching several popular co-hosts Thursday. Long-time hosts, and show founders, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman remained in while fan favorites Grant Imahara, Tony Belleci and Kari Byron were shown the hosting exit door.

As befitting a TV classic, the announcement was revealed through a video titled "A Farewell to M7" released Thursday. "It's not only the end of this episode," said Hyneman, "It's not only the end of this season. It's also the end of an era."
Savage added: "Next season we're going back to our origins with just Adam and me."
Hyneman said it was an incredible 10-year run with the dynamic trio on the show that explodes scientific myths even as it explodes stuff and such. The departing trio have given "literally your blood, sweat and tears in the name of science and it has been a total pleasure to work with you," Hyneman continued as a video montage of the three former co-hosts ran in the background.
A science show presented in entertainment format, "MythBusters" began its run of blowing stuff up and tearing stuff down in the name of science in 2003. It was created by Australia's Beyond Television Productions for Discovery under the guise of showrunner Peter Rees. The show takes the scientific method to a whole 'nother level to say the least.
The show's new direction had been hinted at for the last few months with rumors circulating on social media. Some contended the hosts didn't get along. Even Hyneman, during an "Access Hollywood" interview in March, said the hosts got on each other nerves all the time, but dealt with disagreements and moved on to make the show work.
Following the announcement, Belleci and Byron each issued Twitter comments designed to bust some myths about their sudden departure after a decade in the science infotainment trenches.
Belleci thanked the fans and @MythBusters for letting them tech science in a new manner. "Now, on the the next adventure," he added.
Byron also thanked the show's fan for their support, saying she was sad her run had ended, but was looking forward to new adventures.
