Heart disease is the topmost cause of death for women in the United States.

A report by Ravalli Republic says that one woman dies of stroke or heart ailment every 80 seconds in the country.

What makes heart attack among women deadlier than heart attacks in men is that women do not usually show symptoms of heart attack. Because of this, most women tend to dismiss early medical help that could probably save their lives.

Dr. Gretchen Wells of Women's Heart Health from Gill Heart Institute explained that women nowadays have increasing risks of heart diseases, MNR Daily reported.

"Sadly, we are seeing more women with heart disease at a younger age. It is critical we help women understand that heart diseases affects them differently, that their heart attack symptoms can be different than men's, and that they should not put off seeing a doctor if they have symptoms," Wells said.

Most men with heart disease manifest regular symptoms such as chest pain and stabbing pain in the arms. Women, however, experience other more subtle symptoms such as sweating, dizziness, fatigue and heartburn sensations.

According to the Sun Chronicle, despite the fact that heart disease is the number one killer among women, only one in five women believe that heart disease is their greatest health threat.

Women should not ignore the threat of heart disease because it attacks females of all ages. In a year, out of 435,000 women who experience heart attacks, 83,000 of them are under the age of 65. While 35,000 are below 55 years of age.

Compared to men, women experience heart disease symptoms ten years later. Most men commonly start experiencing heart attacks when they reach 50-60 years old. Women, on the other hand, experience heart attacks usually during their 60s-early 70s.
