Aside from the mayor, the confirmed attendees in the 10-day trade mission to China include Councilor Michael Thompson, the economic development chair, former provincial cabinet minister Janet Ecker, who now heads the Toronto Financial Services Alliance, and Janet De Silva, chief executive of the Toronto Region Board of Trade.
"The trip's purpose is to strengthen economic relationships between Toronto and China as well as Japan, focusing on financial services, infrastructure, clean technology and education," according to a statement released by Tory's office.
Chongqing and Toronto has an existing partner city relationship and Tory will be in the Chinese city to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the partnership.
