German automaker BMW has released a new version of the 7-Series flagship brand with an M Performance upgrade. The new BMW M760i xDrive will hit the market with a V-12 engine, a sports car body kit and several M Performance-approved upgrades.

BMW also released a slightly discrete version of the new V-12 sedan called the M760i xDrive V12 Excellence, which features the same mechanical upgrades as the M760i xDrive, but with a standard set of bumpers with a slight touch of chrome. The car's trunk lid sports a minimalist design with only a badge that indicates it is a V-12 model equipped with an all-wheel drive system.

The BMW M760i xDrive has a massive V-12 6.6-liteer twin-turbocharged engine that is capable of outputting an estimated 600 horsepower and 590 point-feet worth of torque. It has a recalibrated version of the 7-Series' iconic eight-speed automatic transmission, which can fire the sedan from zero to 62mph in just 3.9 seconds. The top speed of the vehicle is 155mph.

With this massive firepower, BMW has to compromise on some aspects of the car. For one, the BMW M760i xDrive weighs 4,806 lb. In comparison, the BMW B7 xDrive, which has a smaller and lighter V8 engine, can produce 600 horsepower and 590 pound-feet torque just like the M760i xDrive, but is significantly lighter.

The BMW M760i xDrive will be released in the United States within the first quarter of 2017. The German automaker is yet to confirm whether the sleeker BMW M760i xDrive Excellence will be released also.

Both the BMW M760i xDrive and M760i xDrive Excellence are expected to debut at the upcoming 2016 Geneva Motor Show in Geneva, Switzerland. Also slated to debut at the same event is the BMW 740e xDrive plug-in hybrid and the BMW B7 xDrive.
