The arrival of a sibling can be difficult for some, especially for those who have been an only child for many years.
Local media reported on Friday that a teenage girl from Shaanxi province sent her infant sister to a police station because of jealousy.

Xiaolin, a 15-year-old girl from Shaanxi's capital city Xi'an, brought her two-month-old half sister nicknamed Xiaoguo to a police station in early February, afraid that her mother might love the baby more than her.
Reports indicate that when Xiaolin visited her mother during winter vacation, she brought her sister to a police station and told authorities that she found the baby abandoned by the road, withholding the fact the she is a relative of the infant.
Their mother went searching for Xiaoguo at police stations within the area for a month. The baby was later found in a child welfare center in Xi'an. After undergoing DNA tests, the mother ultimately returned her baby daughter home.
Xiaolin's parents divorced when she was four years old and she was raised by her grandmother. Two years ago, her mother had a boyfriend who left her upon learning that she was pregnant.
Although Xiaolin was not exactly pleased during her mother's pregnancy, she still showed love to her Xiaoguo when she was born.
When asked why she sent the baby to a police station, Xiaolin said that her intent was to find Xiaoguo's father so her mother will not have a difficult life raising the child alone.
