A mother in Southern China has been financially drained so much that she can only pay for one of her two sick child's medication.
For Lin Ronghong, a mother of two, it has boiled down to choosing which to prioritize between her daughter and son who both have bone cancers. Lin's daughter, 17-year-old Zhang Lin, is very ill and is supposed to have her right leg amputated immediately.

"It's worst for her at nights. She can't sleep mostly because of the pain, but she sucks up the pain by biting her pillow and blanket rather than making a sound, fearing this will sadden me. Doctors say the amputation can't wait any longer," Lin said, as reported by the South China Morning Post.
Zhang's right shin was replaced in August 2015. Lin has spent more than ¥300,000 ($46,000) for Zhang's medical bills. The money came from her savings, donations from Zhang's school, and loans from relatives.
Zhang was on her way to becoming a kindergarten teacher but had to stop studying upon her diagnosis.
Meanwhile, Lin's 11-year-old son, Zhang Yuen, was diagnosed in July with a rare form of bone cancer. He is now undergoing chemotherapy, but is reportedly still in critical condition.
After Yuen's diagnosis, he moved to live with his dad in, who Lin divorced in 2013.
"He knew both mum and dad are poor so he told me quietly before leaving last year to save his sister first. He told me to save him, too, if I managed to borrow the money," Lin told Guangzhou Daily.
At least another ¥300,000 is needed to finance the medicaion of the two children.
