(Photo : Getty Images) Apple launched the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus on September 25 in 12 regions including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the U.K., and the U.S.

Apple's iPhone products are big in China and differentiate one's social status.

A man surnamed in Hou found an online seller of the iPhone 6S for only  ¥1,500 ($230), more than 60 percent off its normal price. The seller told him that the phone was smuggled, thus its very low price.

The next day, Hou was expecting a shiny, brand new iPhone 6S on his doorstep, but instead found a pancake.

Yes, THAT pancake.

Hou tried to contact the seller for a refund but was unsuccessful.

A legit iPhone 6S costs $650 at the least, even amounting to more than $1,000 after taxes.

Earlier this month, a woman surnamed Zhao from Jiangsu province bought an iPhone 6S from a man online. The seller initially told her that the price was ¥3,400 ($521), but was soon increased to a total of ¥8,400 ($1,300) as the phone was "seized" by customs. The seller promised to refund the additional ¥5,000 ($767) when she received the phone.

Zhao did receive a phone, but not an Apple phone. The phone she got had a pear on the back instead of an apple. Pear phones are a parody phone used by the stars of the Nickelodeon show Victorious.

Zhao tried to contact the seller but she found out the he already black listed her number.

There are many instances in China where people sell the last possession a person think of selling just to buy an iPhone.

A young couple in Fujian province sold their 18-year-old daughter for ¥23,000 ($3,500) because they didn't want her anymore. The father bought an iPhone and a motorbike using the money. The two are now charged with human trafficking and abduction.
