Rumor has it that American singer Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon's marriage are on the rocks and that the couple is headed for a divorce. However, according to reports, the singer is said to have banned her husband from talking about their split.

The 'America's Got Talent' host has finally spoken about the rumors that has been circulating about his marriage with Mariah Carey, last Thursday, and  has claimed, they might really be calling it quits.

Nick Cannon has reportedly stated that he and his singer wife have been living in separate houses for six months now and added, his main focus as of the moment are his 3-year old twin sons with Mariah Carey.

On previous reports, it was speculated that the 33-year old host has been cheating on the singer. The rumor has been persisting since it first surfaced on the media.

According to media reports, there has been a mutual understanding between his lawyers and that of Mariah Carey's, that if he reveals anything more about the details of their separation, he will be facing serious financial penalties.

The singer has been upset about the comment, her husband made during an interview he had with a media outlet which resulted into an agreement that the couple would have to make a joint statement about their split.

A source says, Mariah Carey deemed Nick Cannon's actions as opportunistic, childish and impulsive. The singer is said to have claimed that she is done with him after he made such comments in public despite their agreement, he wasn't supposed to say a word.

The impending separation is said to have been caused by many things including Nick Cannon's refusal to reduce his work load, which remains to be a sore spot on his relationship with Mariah who insists he didn't have to work.

Another reason cited was Nick Cannon's claim to have slept with Kim Kardashian before he got married to the singer.

Mariah who has been concentrating on her children, is heartbroken about the issue.
