In spite of the fact that the NBA teams that might be involved in a possible Shumpert deal were not named, the Cavs is previously reported to be interested in different players at a variety of positions.
The Cavs are currently the No. 1 team in the Eastern Conference with a record of 38 wins and 14 losses. The LeBron James-led squad is the fourth leading team in the league, with the defending champions Golden States Warriors dwelling on top with 48 wins with just 4 losses, the San Antonio Spurs with 45-8 and the Oklahoma City Thunder with 40-14 record.
According to The Score, Cleveland's general manager David Griffin has been busy working the phones in a bid to fortify a team line-up that rotates around 31-year-old four-time NBA MVP James.
Shumpert was the 2011 NBA draft 17th overall pick selected by the New York Knicks. In his 2014-15 season with the Knicks, he averaged 9.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals in 26.0 minutes of playing time in the 24 games he played before being traded to Cleveland Cavaliers in January last year.
The 25-year-old Georgia Tech product is a solid perimeter defender. He has been sidelined for three months after suffering a wrist injury last September that limited his ability to contribute to the team.
The 2012 NBA All-Rookie First Team member has averaged 6.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.5 assist and 1 steal in 24.1 minutes in the 30 games he has played for the Cavaliers in the league's season.
Shumpert signed a four-year $40 million contract with Cleveland in July 2015.
