English Premier League club Liverpool FC is reportedly targeting goalkeeper Antonio Adan of La Liga's newly-promoted squad Real Betis Balompie in the summer as Reds head coach Jürgen Klopp wants a replacement for out of form Simon Mignolet at the Anfield.

Metro reported that the Reds are "interested in a move" for the Spanish goal tender even as the Béticos gave him an affordable £6.2 million release clause in his current contract which said to have "alerted several Premier League clubs".

Rumors are loud that Klopp and company will make a run for the 28-year-old goalie during the upcoming summer transfer window, with fellow EPL teams Sunderland and Southampton as potential challengers for Adan.

With the 48-year-old German manager allegedly frustrated about the performances of his resident goalkeeper Mignolet since he took over from Brendan Rodgers in October of last year, Klopp is said to be searching for his ideal goal stopper and Adan is his primary target as of the moment, as per Caught Offside.

The Madrid, Spain native is a key part of the Los Verdiblancos' conquest of the Spanish Segunda División in 2014-2015 on their way to getting promoted to La Liga this season. His game is said to have been monitored closely by Klopp ever since and so the former Borussia Dortmund boss wants him at his side in 2016-2017.

Adan was the product of Real Madrid's youth program and so he started his senior career playing for Los Blancos' C team in 2004. He was promoted to the B squad in 2006 before finally suiting up for the first team in the Spanish top flight in December 2010.

In a controversial move of then Real manager Jose Mourinho, Adan was named starter over incumbent Iker Casillas in 2012 with Mourinho saying that "at that moment, for me and my coaching staff, Adan is better than Iker".

Adan was signed by Real Betis in January 2014 after a season with relegated Italian Serie A team Cagliari Calcio.
