‘Fallout 4’ Wins Game of the Year Title at D.I.C.E Awards

Video Game Company Bethesda Holds Press Event Ahead Of Start Of E3 Gaming Conference

The previous year was an auspicious period for the gaming community. Notable titles like "Rocket League" have dominated the multiplayer platform while titles like "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" was an excellent addition to a well-beloved title. However, one title stood on top of all others at the annual D.I.C.E Awards, and that is "Fallout 4."

The post-apocalyptic role-playing video game epic from Bethesda Softworks won the highly-coveted game of the year award at the 19th annual D.I.C.E Awards held in Las Vegas.

At the same event, "Fallout 4" also snatched the award for outstanding achievement in game direction and the award for role-playing game of the year. The game's mobile spin-off "Fallout Shelter," won the mobile game of the year award.

"Fallout 4" may be the runaway winner of the night, but there are a handful of small-budgeted games that also made the winners circle. "Ori and the Blind Forest" went home with three awards for animation, art direction and music.

In the sports category, "Rocket League" toppled well-established titles like "FIFA 2016" and "NBA 2K16" to snatch the best sports game award. "Rocket League" also won the Sprite award, an honor bestowed on low budget games that make a huge impact in the gaming community.

"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" won three awards. The third addition to the well-loved role-playing fantasy game went home with awards in game design, technical achievement and story.

The sci-fi shooter "Star Wars: Battlefront" won outstanding achievement on sound design and the action game of the year award.

"Rise of the Tomb Raider" won outstanding achievement in character, which was bestowed on the game's protagonist, Lara Croft.

"Super Mario Maker" snatched the family game of the year award.

"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" won the adventure game of the year award.

"Forza Motorspot 6" won the racing game of the year award.

"Mortal Kombat X" won the fighting game of the year award.

"Heroes of the Storm" won the strategy/simulation game of the year award.

"Helldivers" stood out as the best handheld game of the year.

executive Satoru Iwata, who passed away in July 2015, was honored with a lifetime achievement award. On the other hand, "Metal Gear Solid" creator Hideo Kojima was inducted into the academy's Hall of Fame.
