Dozens of members of the Yazidi religious minority have been converted by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) to Islam based on the video released by the militant group.

The 11-minute video posted by ISIS on Youtube showed Yazidis grimly reciting the Muslim invocation of faith, apparently converting to Islam against their will.

"There is no God but God and Mohammed is his messenger," the Yazidis recited then began praying afterwards.

The Yazidis have been targetted by ISIS militants since the start of what the ISIS claimed as a religious war.

Hundreds of Yazidis have died as a result and thousands of others escape to the northern Sinjar mountain to avoid the wrath of the militants.

In the 11 minute video released by the group, an ISIS fighter tells the camera why they wish for Yazidis to convert.

Under the rule of ISIS, the fighter adds, Yazidis will be able to live "happy lives."

"Right now, you are kuffar (infidels)," the speaker tells them. "After [your conversion] you will become Muslims and will have rights."

After the short conversion ceremony, the Yazidi men were then interviewed about their "new-found faith" and then were told to embrace ISIS men.

The video, however, clearly showed that the Yazidi men were not happy with the conversion and that they were only forced to follow the orders of the ISIS militants to avoid getting killed.

Hundreds of Christians, including priests, and Yazidi men have been beheaded by ISIS militants and the conversion, analysts said, was the only way for the Yazidi men to stay alive.

Meanwhile, Al Arabiya News reported that 1,000 Iraqi women captured by ISIS militants may be being coerced into marrying the radical fighters.

"They beg us...they promise us everything," a woman said. "They say they will give us houses and we will lead happy lives."
