"We knew we were missing those guys," Deng said. "We knew we had to come out with a lot of energy. Throughout the whole game we did a good job of keeping the pace up."
Miami played the Atlanta Hawks with just nine healthy players in their line-up.
"We easily could have said we had guys out, we could have said we lost this game, that's the reason for it," Deng said. "But we came out and played hard."
Wade, the Heat's all-time leading scorer, was not able to play due to soreness in his left knee, while the three-time NBA Shooting Stars champion Chris Bosh is out indefinitely with a blood clot in his leg. Center Hassan Whitesand, who was serving a one-game suspension, was also not available to play.
Former Duke Blue Devils player Josh McRoberts registered his season-high 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Goran Dragic and Justise Winslow added 17 and 13 points respectively for the winners.
Gerald Green, who replaced Wade as the starting guard, finished the game with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block shot.
Jeff Teague, the 2009 NBA draft 19th overall pick, led the night for Atlanta with 23 points and 7 assists, while two-time MVC Player of the Year Kyle Korver dropped 18 points and veteran forward Paul Millsap chipped in 12 points and 13 rebounds.
