(Photo : Getty Images) Just 24 hours after it was launched in China, Apple Pay is already facing technical problems.
Following the launch of Apple Pay in China on Thursday, smartphone users have reportedly been encountering a handful of technical errors with the platform.
After Apple rolled out its mobile payment system on February 18 in partnership with government-backed UnionPay, the large number of users trying to register accounts on the platform have allegedly overloaded the system.

Some users reported that their phone keeps on responding "cannot connect to Apple Pay" or the system is unable to verify the card they are attempting to link. But after several tries, the linking of the card is successful. Some users have also complained that they cannot open the Wallet app to register another card.
Apple still has not released an official statement regarding these issues yet. However, one report citing a representative from Apple said that the sheer number of users attempting to create accounts on the platform all at once is possibly the root of the problem. Once the demand decreases, the glitches are expected to be resolved.
It is, however, not clear how long the dilemma will continue and if Apple will act to eradicate the issue. As of now, users are advised to just keep on trying.
China is the second largest market of Apple in terms of revenues next to the United States. Its partnership with 19 of the giant lenders in China will make around 80 percent of the credit and debit cardholders in China eligible to utilize the app.
