The New York Knicks has reportedly signed former NBA player and 2016 NBA D-League All-Star Game MVP Jimmer Fredette to a 10-day contract on Monday.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity, and to be part of the Knicks organization is something you dream about as a kid," said the 10th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, via ESPN. "Especially coming from upstate New York and watching all the great teams they had. So it's a dream come true."

However, Fredette's first game with the Knicks also on Monday ended in a 27-point loss to the Toronto Raptors, 122-95, at the Madison Square Garden in New York. He buried his only shot of the game, a three-pointer, off a pass from Jerian Grant in just one minute and 49 seconds of playing time.

The 26-year-old point guard is under contract for four more matches before the team determines whether to extend him to another 10 days or sign him for the rest of the season altogether.

The former BYU Cougars standout and 2011 National College Player of the Year awardee has always been a fan-favorite and he apparently still is in New York today as chants of "We want Jimmer!" filled the Garden during his brief spell on the court.

"Hopefully, I can provide a spark in any way they want me to," Fredette said before the Toronto game. "I'll go out there and just be the best teammate I can be and hopefully provide something off the bench and score the basketball and do whatever it takes to help (the) team win. Hopefully, that'll be good enough."

Fredette had suited up for the Westchester Knicks this season and had averaged 21.8 points, 4.8 dimes, and 4.6 rebounds in 30 games for New York's D-League squad, as per CBS Sports. He was also awarded as the 2016 D-League All-Star Game's Most Valuable Player earlier this month when he led the East in defeating the West, 128-124.
