Lauren Bacall Leaves £6,000 for her dog Sophie

Lauren Bacall died last week at the age of 89 in her New York home, leaving £26.6 million to her children, grandsons, and employees. Her will says part of that amount will go to her dog, Sophie.

The legendary Bacall left US$10,000 for her dog. Bacall has always pampered Sophie, a Papillion toy spaniel, and In her will, she wanted to make sure that her dog's care will continue.

According to the will, the money left for her canine companion will be given to her youngest son, Sam Robards. Robards will ensure that Sophie will continue to live the way she was accustomed to.

Bacall's neighbors often saw the star and her dog walking around their Manhattan apartment. Also, Bacall has always shown deep affection for her dog, and even brought Sophie to the movie "Birth" where she starred back in 2004.

Another source, Jacqui Kaese, who was an acting coach for another star in the said film, said that Sophie received the most respect when they were on set. She reveals that Bacall never went anywhere without her dog. Bacall would always take time to play with her dog. Kaese dubbed the dog as royalty.

Bacall has been known to be a dog lover. She was interviewed by Glenn Close before, where she said that she always yearned of having a dog. Bacall said that when she was young, she never had the chance to get a dog and being an only child, she wanted someone to talk to.

Bacall also included her maid, Isla Hernandez, in the will. Hernandez has served Bacall for the past 14 years and she will be receiving US$15, 000.

Bacall, whose real name is Betty Jane Perske, was first featured in the movie "To Have And Have Not." She was in the film with her husband-to be Humphrey Bogart. From that time on, Bacall and Bogart were to make several box-office hit movies together during Hollywood's Golden age.
