There is no doubt that former NBA Most Valuable Player Derrick Rose is one of the biggest names to watch during the 2017 free agency period and speculations abound that he does not intend to re-sign with the Bulls by then. There are also rumors that Chicago knows it and so they will be exploring his trade value this summer.

Basketball Insiders' Steve Kyler is anticipating the possibility of the 27-year-old Rose getting traded in the offseason, saying that "it would not surprise me at all if the Bulls explore Derrick Rose's trade value because I think he leaves the Bulls as a free agent in 2017".

Kyler also said that both Rose and the Bulls "need a change of scenery" as the expectations from the three-time All-Star have not been met mostly because of recurring injuries in all his seven years with the franchise.

There are also rumors that Chicago is leaning on keeping Pau Gasol next season over Joakim Noah, which may lead to Rose to be unhappy about one of his close friends leaving.

With that, Fansided predicted five teams that could make a push to sign Rose in the summer of 2017 and one of them is the New York Knicks.

The Knicks should be an attractive destination for Rose as he can team up with another legitimate All-Star in Carmelo Anthony and an up-and-coming stretch big man in Kristaps Porzingis. The trio could definitely be a menacing combination on the court, especially in the triangle system.

Rose will also definitely be a huge boost for the Big Apple franchise in the point guard position, something that they have always had issues with. Since Phil Jackson became president of basketball operations in New York, reports are out that he had been looking for the ideal point guard to run his triangle offense, but he has not found it yet.

When it comes to Rose's development as a superstar player, the report noted that he "would be able to continue his brand in New York City and he could be the point guard that the team needs" and also "with the rising salary cap, the Knicks could probably afford to land Rose and chase another big time star", which only mean good things for the city and its fans.
