Real Madrid is reportedly targeting Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris this summer as the La Liga giants are still searching for their ideal no. 1 since club legend Iker Casillas exited the squad in July of last year.

Metro indicated that Los Blancos are "interested in sealing the transfer" of the 29-year-old France international after attempts of snatching David De Gea from Manchester United have all failed.

It was reported that current Real manager, Zinedine Zidane, who is Lloris' countryman, is keen on luring the 6-foot-2 goalie to Spain in the summer after seeing his great form in England this season.

The Spurs are currently at the no. 2 spot of the EPL table, just two points behind league-leading Leicester City and on a five-game winning run. Tottenham has given away only 20 goals in 26 games in the English top flight this season, the lowest goals allowed by any EPL team so far.

Real's starting goalkeeper Keylor Navas has been somewhat impressive as well, leading Los Vikingos to 24 goals allowed in 25 matches, fifth in La Liga behind Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Villarreal, and Malaga. However, the capital city residents seem to want "a bigger name in that position".

The Daily Star noted that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is adamant that Lloris is not for sale as the Frenchman is said to be "integral to the club's long-term plans", which will make things more difficult for Real to negotiate for the goal tender's transfer.

The Santiago Bernabéu residents have pulled off two high-profile signings from the Spurs in the past, namely those of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale, who up to this day is the all-time richest transfer in association football history at £85.3 million in 2013.

Lloris was signed by Tottenham in August 2012 for a transfer fee of £8 million from Ligue 1 club Lyon. He is now in his fourth season with the Spurs and have played a total of 153 games in competitions so far.
