NBA News: Stephen Curry and Kyle Lowry Bag NBA Players of the Week Honor

The league's reigning MVP Stephen Curry of the defending champions Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors superstar Kyle Lowry have been named the NBA's Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played from February 22 through February 28.

Curry led the Golden State team, who are currently sitting at the top of the league's team standings with an amazing 53 wins and just 5 losses this season, to a 4-0 week, where he averaged 43.8 points in the four matches. The NBA's leading scorer produced 36, 42, 51, and 46 points in the Warriors recent games.

He connected at least five treys in each contest, including in their game against the Orlando Magic and the Oklahoma City Thunder, where Curry sank 10 and 12 three-pointers, respectively.

During the week, Curry set a new NBA record for the most consecutive games with a three-pointer made, beating the 127 mark set by Kyle Korver of the Atlanta Hawks. He also tied the league's single-game record by hitting 12 from deep in their game against the Thunder on February 27.

Lowry led Toronto, currently the East's second-best basketball squad with 39 wins and 19 losses record, to a 3-1 week.

During the week, Lowry averaged 28.7 points with 6.3 rebounds and 8.7 assists, which makes him the top scorer and the second-best in assist in the Eastern Conference.

During Toronto's February 22 game with the New York Knicks, which they won 122-95, Lowry registered a triple-double of 22 points, 11 boards and 11 assists. He ended his week by sinking the game-winning basket as part of a 43-point production in a 99-97 victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers on February 26.

Other nominees for the NBA Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week were Portland's Damian Lillard, San Antonio's Kawhi Leonard, Washington's John Wall, Atlanta's Al Horford and Detroit's Reggie Jackson.
