Alcatel's 5.5-inch Idol 3 Smartphone now Available for $179.99 via Amazon

The Alcatel Idol 3 mid-range smartphone, which was launched in June 2015, is now available via Amazon.com with a price tag of $179.99. The smartphone was recently succeeded by the Alcatel Idol 4 that was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 in Barcelona, Spain.

In addition to the 5.5-inch version, the 4.7-inch model is also available via Amazon at $169.99.
Specs-wise, the 5.5-inch Alcatel Idol 3 weighs about 141 grams and measures 152.7 x 75.1 x 7.4 mm in dimensions. The phone sports an IPS LCD display screen with a 1,080 x 1,920 pixel resolution and comes with the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop operating system out of the box.
Inside, the Alcatel Idol 3 packs a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 processor, Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53 CPUs, and an Adreno 405 graphics processing unit. The chipset is accompanied by 2GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB of internal memory (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card), and a 2,910 mAh battery.
As for the camera, the handset has a 13 megapixel rear-facing unit with f/2.0 aperture, and an 8 megapixel front-facing shooter. Other specs include support for Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC connectivity.
In comparison with its new successor, the Alcatel Idol 4 sports a 5.2-inch LTPS IPS LCD screen with a 1,080 x 1,920 resolution as well. The new device comes with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS pre-installed and packs a Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617 chipset, 2GB/3GB RAM, 16GB of memory and a 2,610 mAh battery. The phone retains the 13 megapixel primary shooter and 8 megapixel front-facing snapper.
The Alcatel Idol 4 comes with a price tag of $250.
