With the win, the Trail Blazers now hold a 33-28 record - the same with the sixth ranked Dallas Mavericks. They have strengthen their place in the final eight of the Western Conference as they are four wins ahead of the eighth ranked Houston Rockets, who have a 29-31 record, and five victories away with the Utah Jazz, which is in the ninth place with 28-31 record.
"We're getting better," Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts said."The goal was to get better as the season went on and I think the growth we've made, winning close games, winning games on the road, holding leads, all those things speak to the improvement of the individuals on the team."
Portland starting guard CJ McCollum, who went 10 for 19 from the field, had 21 of his 25 points in the second half and connected 2 of the 3 three-pointers that he fired from beyond the arc, while Meyers Leonard added 11 points, going 3 for 5 from the three-point range.
The Trail Blazers ended the first half of the match with a 58-50 lead and started to pull away in the third period to extend their lead to 85-72 going in to the final quarter of the game.
In the fourth quarter, Portland continued to pound the Knicks and the margin ballooned to 20-point lead when Lillard converted two free shots from the free throw line after being fouled by Porzingis making it 94-74 with 7:06 minutes left to play.
Carmelo Anthony scored 23 points for the Knicks, who suffered its 37th loss in 62 games played this season.
