NBA Recap: Dallas Mavericks Rout Orlando Magic, Wesley Matthews Scores 21 Points

Dallas Mavericks continue to hold on to their spot in the Western Conference final eight as they triumphed over Orlando Magic with a dominating 121-108 victory at the American Airlines Center on Tuesday.

Dallas starting guard Wesley Matthews scored a team-high 21 points with 5 rebounds and 2 assists to lead the Mavericks to their 33rd win in 61 games played this season. Georgian veteran center Zaza Pachulia contributed with 17 points and 10 rebounds for his 24th double-double game performance of the season.

"We made an easy adjustment, and mainly it was me," Pachulia, who went 6 for 8 from the field, said. "It's with the spacing. Don't block or run closer to the shooters and the penetrators."

Mavericks' superstar Dirk Nowitski finished the evening with 19 points while shooting 7 for 13 from the floor in 27.02 minutes of playing time. Chandler Parsons and J.J. Barea chipped in 17 points apiece.

Dallas dominated the game as they ended the first half with 69-91 lead and contained the Magic to just 20 points while stretching their lead to 15 with the scores at 96-at the close of the third period of the match.

The Mavericks continued their dominance over the Magic in the final twelve minutes of the game. Center Salaj Mejri gave Dallas a 20-point lead after a dunk shot courtesy of a Barea assists to make it 120-100 with 2:57 minutes left to play.

With the loss, the Magic team suffered their 33rd defeat in 59 games played and fell to the 11th place in the tight East.

"Had a poor first half, and an even worse second half," Orlando coach Scott Skiles said. "We felt like they started the (second) half kind of flat. Unfortunately, so did we."

Ersan Ilyasova led Orlando with 22 points and 10 rebounds while going 7 for 10 from the field in a team-high 30.55 minutes of playing time.

Nikola Vucevic and Elfrid Payton added 18 points and 12 points respectively.
