Chinese Super League clubs spent almost $370 million in the January and February transfer window, surpassing the amount spent by soccer teams in leagues across the world.
The fees paid for player transfers during the two-month window, which ended on the midnight of Feb. 26, was fourfold higher than the country's previous record, and even higher than the English Premier Legaue's $276 million blowout. China also exceed the total amount spent by four other major European leagues in France, Italy, Germany and Spain combined, according to Transmarkt.

In the recent transfer window, China allocated almost $434 million - taking League One (second tier) soccer clubs into account. Of the total amount, around $316 million was spent on international players.
Several high profile soccer players have moved to China over the past two months. Jackson Martinez (former striker of Atletico Madrid) and Ramires (ex-Chelsea midfielder) are among the list of renowned players now playing in China.
The high wages offered by Chinese clubs is thought to be the primary reason why so many international players have opted to move to the country. Critics say business tycoon, who own soccer clubs in the country, are taking a sue from President Xi Jinping, who has voiced his love for the game.
President Xi has championed reforms to make soccer popular in China - even among elementary and secondary schools students. Across the country, schools are springing up to nurture the talent of youngsters in the sport. Overall, under Xi's administration, football has seen a robust growth in China.
It is unclear how long the shopping spree by Chinese clubs for international players will last.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said early in February that China seems to have the financial power to acquire the entire European league and move it to China.
