Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has announced that its latest handheld device called the Mi 5 has sold out quickly after up to 16.8 million reservations were made for the device. The Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphone is currently only available for purchase in China.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphone has been one of the most anticipated smartphones this year due to its impressive design and specs. The device was unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain last month, and received positive feedbacks. Xiaomi's all-new flagship was supposed to hit the market last year, but Xiaomi postponed the launch and introduced it about a week ago during the largest mobile technology trade show of the year.

The Chinese company claims that up to 16.8 million consumers actually registered for the Mi 5 flash sale.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphone features a 5.15-inch full HD (1920 x 1080) display screen. The device comes in two variants - with 3GB and 4GB of RAM. In terms of the storage, the handset also comes with 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB non-expandable internal storage. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC, along with Adreno 530 GPU on board.
In terms of the camera, the handset sports a 16-megapixel 4-axis OIS camera, which is located on the back of the phone, and a 4-megapixel (2um pixel size) front shooter. The smartphone is fueled with a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with Xiaomi MIUI on top.
During the MWC 2016 event last month, Xiaomi also introduced the Mi 5 Pro smartphone - but it is not currently available for purchase as of today. The Mi 5 Pro smartphone comes with 4 GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which is more powerful than the ordinary Mi 5.
