Renowned actor and Oscar-winning director Richard Attenborough died at the care home he has moved in to on August 24, Sunday at the age of 90 as announced by his son Michael to BBC.

Richard Attenborough has been well-known for his acting skills on stage and in films in the UK and has become a well-acclaimed director for his work on 'Gandhi' and other movies.

Being the former president of BAFTA, he has been described by his former coworker as a 'titan of British cinema'. Additionally, the actor-director has been praised for setting a great example to the public as well as the industry for his skill and compassion.

The film academy has also released a statement, expressing their grief over the loss of an artist they've deemed as an esteemed filmmaker who has supported BAFTA with passion for over 50 years.

They have also claimed that the industry would do well living up to Richard Attenborough's example.

Over the course of his career, he has won eight Oscars for best film and best director among the few, particularly for his film 'Gandhi' in 1982.

Richard Attenborough was a respected actor who starred in blockbuster films such as 'Jurassic Park' in 1993 and was also asked to make an appearance in Satyajit Ray's 'The Chess Players'

The actor-director had been receiving praise not only from his colleagues in the movie industry, but also from politicians and his sports franchise, the Chelsea Football club.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron was one of those who paid his tribute to the late Richard Attenborough , stating that he had been a great actor in 'Brighton Rock' and that he has delivered a stunning directing skill for his movie 'Gandhi'. The Prime Minister said that the actor-director is one of the greatest figures in cinema.

Furthermore, Richard Attenborough has been the driving force behind 'Help a London Child', a children's charity in the UK.

Richard Attenborough will forever be remembered as one of the greatest influences in the film industry.
