One of the biggest video game title launched in 2015 is getting its own official championship series. Rocket League developer Psyonix is teaming up with video streaming platform Twitch to launch the Rocket League Championship Series.
The series is an official 3-versus-3 competition with money at stake. Twitch and Psyonix are launching a 3-month season pass that will offer a $75,000 prize pool for the teams that emerge on top.

In a statement, Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham said, "Twitch and its streamers have been an instrumental part of our success since we launched last July, and that made them a perfect match for us. We couldn't be more thrilled to be working with a team that we respect as highly as we do Twitch, and we can't wait to show the world what we can do in esports together!"
While the prize pool might be a bit small compared to most Esports tournaments, analysts agree that it is sufficient enough to get the attention of the gaming community and widen the scope and popularity of the game.
According to Engadget, only the Windows PC and PlayStation 4 version of the game will be supported in the championship series. However, there are reports that the tournament organizers will also support the Xbox One version of the game in the future.
Xbox One owners who wants to be updated with the tournament can stream all playoff matches over at Twitch.
The Rocket League Championship Series registration will open on March 25 and gamers will have three months to work their way into the rankings.
The alliance between Psyonix and Twitch could mean that the two companies will establish their own brand of Esports gaming. Twitch is the biggest video game streaming platform and has millions of devoted users. With this formula, tech analysts believe that Rocket League will not suffer an early death as most video game titles do nowadays.
