In terms for the hardware, the Gionee S8 smartphone features a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display screen. The device is powered by MediaTek's octa-core Helio P10 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. It comes with a built-in 64 GB internal storage, which can be further expanded with a microSD card.
The smartphone sports a 16-megapixel rear shooter with PDAF and laser autofocus system capabilities. The device also supports LTE Category 6 connectivity and is powered by a 3000mAh capacity battery with fast charging support. In addition, the home button of the smartphone also serves as a fingerprint sensor.
Additionally, the Gionee S8 features a Force Touch capability, with functionality similar to what we can find on the iPhone 6s. This feature is compatible with Gionee's stock apps at launch, and the vendor is currently working to increase the functionality over the coming months. The smartphone is the first device to run the company's latest operating system called the Amigo 3.2, based on Android Marshmallow. The company's global SIM roaming service is also now coded into the OS.
The camera app's navigation has been simplified, giving users quick access to filters and shooting modes. An OCR support is also fitted on this device, which converts the language of any scanned text automatically. Additionally, the device comes filters for videos, offering seven different filters with live preview.
The Gionee S8 smartphone is now available for purchase for the price of $494.
