Alex Teixeira's Second Half Brace Gives Jiangsu Suning Winning Start in Chinese Super League

(Photo : Getty Images) Alex Teixeira’s two second half goals gave Jiangsu Suning comfortable 3-0 victory over Shandong Luneng in the opening weekend of the Chinese Super League.

Jiangsu Suning started off their Chinese Super League campign on a flying note with comfortable 3-0 victory over Shandong Luneng.   

The three goals for Jiangsu Suning were scored by Brazilian imports - Ramires and Alex Teixeira.

Ramires scored the first goal just three minutes into the game and his Brazilian teammate Alex Teixeira scored two second half goals in 66th and 85th minutes

Both Brazilian players were acquired by Jiangsu Suning during January's transfer window market that saw Chinese Super League clubs breaking transfer records.

Ramires was bought for $28 million, while Jiangsu Suning had to shell out $50 million to buy Alex Teixeira, who was also been pursued by English Premier Club Liverpool.

In other results, big spending clubs Guangzhou Evergrande and Shanghai SIPG suffered shock defeats in their opening matches.

The reigning champions Guangzhou Evergrande lost to Chongqing Lifan 2-1, while Sven-Goran Eriksson's Shanghai SIPG went down to Henan Jianye 1-0.

The other big spending club Hebei China Fortune defeated Guangzhou R&F 2-1 despite being reduced to 10 men. The club's foreign signings Gervinho and Ersan Gulum scored goal a each in the emphatic victory    

"We don't deserve to lose the game, but it's football," Guangzhou R&F's coach Dragan Stojkovic told Xinhua after the match.             

Australian socceroos Tim Cahill, who was sacked by Shenhua during the end of last season, also scored a goal in his debut for Hangzhou Greentown, converting 21st-minute penalty in their 2-1 victory against Changchun Yatai.

A total of 16 goals were scored in the opening weekend of Chinese Super League. Interestingly, all 16 goals were scored by foreign players. No Chinese player was able to find the net.
