"Sin City: A Dame To Kill For" bombed at the weekend box office, falling in eighth place and raking in only around US$6.5 million - a far cry from its expectations of ranking number one and earning $15 million.
The movie ranks even lower than "The Expendables 3", also officially perceived as a box office failure.

Despite its strong cast, which includes Jessica Alba, Josh Brolin and Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson and Eva Green, the flick had mixed reviews and only a B- cinemascore.
Campaigns for the movie was also deemed weak and its production delay did not help its cause.
According to Box Office Prophets analyst David Mumpower,"Because of this inexplicable delay, a project that easily could have opened to US$50 million in 2007" did not even make it to the top 5."
The first installment of the film adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novels earned US$29.1 million when it opened in theaters in 2005. During its run, the movie made $158.8 million worldwide.
"This is a complete miss. Obviously, we're very, very disappointed in the numbers. We definitely did not see it coming in like this," shared Erik Lomis, the Weinstein Co.'s distribution chief.
"Sin City: A Dame To Kill For" revolves around Dwight McCarthy (played by Brolin), a private detective, who attempts to leave his violent and booze-filled life behind him.
With the weak competition and the sequel's failure to reach the top, "Guardians of the Galaxy" reclaimed the number one spot this weekend. The said movie is now on its fourth weekend run and has earned a total gross of US$251.9 million.
Ranking second is "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" which has earned an estimated US$16.8 million.
At close third is "If I Stay," a drama starring actress Chloe Moretz, which has so far earned US$16.4 million. Warner Bros, the producing studio of the flick, is quite pleased with the results considering only US$11 million was spent on production.
