Guangzhou Evergrande on Tuesday became the world's most valuable football club. The Chinese football club's market value on Tuesday reached $3.35 billion after completing its first transaction in China's National Equities Exchange and Quotations (NEEQ).
At $3.35 billion, the club surpassed the market value of Real Madrid's $3.26 billion and Manchester United's $2.35 billion.

However, the Chinese Super League Club is far behind these big European clubs in terms of revenue. For instance, Manchester United's average earning in the last three years was $400 million dollars - way ahead of the $61 million dollars earned by Guangzhou Evergrande in the same period.
Guangzhou Evergrande was at the forefront of big spending spree by Chinese clubs during the January transfer market. The club shelled out millions of dollars to acquire quite a few well known foreign players - including the $46 million signing of Jackson Martinez from Spanish club Atlético Madrid.
The big spending club is the most successful club in the history of the Chinese Super League, winning a record five Chinese Super League titles in a row and also two Asian Champions League titles.
Guangzhou Evergrande suffered a shocking defeat in opening weekend of Chinese Super League, going down to Chongqing Lifan 2-1. The club's star singing Jackson Martinez made an immediate impact in the opening game by scoring a goal, but that could not prevent his team from losing.
The club is expected to rebound in their next match against Changchun Yatai on Saturday.
