The U.S. premiere fashion magazine Vanity Fair released their annual International Best-Dressed List this year on Wednesday. China's first lady Peng Liyuan and British Duchess Kate were in the list. Noticeably missing from the list was Michelle Obama, one of the America's most lauded fashionable first ladies. Besides, Brazilian fashion model Gisele Caroline Bündchen and American singer Beyonce were also in the best-dressed list.
Vanity Fair introduces that as China's first lady, Peng Liyuan is a World Health Organization Goodwill Ambassador for Tuberculosis and AIDS. She is also the Dean of the People's Liberation Army Art Academy in China. Peng Liyuan favors smart suits, exquisite handbags. Most of her clothes and handbags are from a Chinese local brand named "Exception". The brand has been described as one of China's leading independent labels with simple but unique designs standing out in the fashion industry.
Earlier in 2003, on its official website, Vanity Fair posted a photo that Peng Liyuan visited Russia with her husband, Chinese president Xi Jinping. In the picture, Peng Liyuan seemed very elegant dressing in a dark blue double-breasted coat with a simple handbag.
According to Huffington Post on July 31st, Vanity Fair highlighted China's first lady in their annual International Best-Dressed List with a good reason. The trip to Russia has solidified Peng Liyuan's status as a style icon. Peng Liyuan is known to be elegant and fashionable, but at the same time she is also very low key and doesn't seem arrogant at all. Maybe this is why she was chosen by Vanity Fair in this year's best-dressed list.
